▼ ▼ ▼ The Mmuseumm is a must-see for all contemporary art lovers and whoever may be planning a trip to New York. Bizarre art objects are on display in this museum located inside the eleva- tor shaft of an old Broadway garment factory. The brothers Benny and Josh Safdie in collaboration with director Alex Kalman, had the brilliant idea of creating an original museum in only six square meters. The collection inclu- des many peculiar objects, such as an assortment of potato chips bags, a pa- perweight made of lottery tickets, the coin minted by ISIS as a challenge to the capitalist system, the shoe thrown at President George W. Bush by the journalist Muntadhar al-Zaidi in 2008 during the President’s speech in Bagh- dad. Among others a fake Happy Meal basket sold in Iran, a blanket lost by a migrant in the Arizona desert, immi- grants’ personal items found between Mexico and the United States in 2016. The elements inside the lift-museum, have been collected over the last ten ye- ars in cities all over the world, each has an identification number, with which visitors may read the history of the pie- ce of interest. The New Yorker has defi- ned it as “wondrous”, and being itself a unique place in the world, it invites vi- sitors to reflect on the world we live in tracing it back to the past. “ The Mmu- seumm is about presenting objects that are the unexpected tale of contempora- ry society, to let people be reminded of the absurdity, beauty, meaningfulness or ugliness of everyday objects”, said the 28 year-old Alex Kalman, one of the founders of the museum. un museo in uno spazio espositivo di soli sei metri quadrati Ricavato all’interno di un vano ascensore di una vecchia fabbrica di indumenti di Broadway, An original museum in only six square meters, located inside the lift shaft of an old Broadway garment factory 63
