sTORIA delle porte degli ascensori L a storia delle porte degli ascensori è molto articolata e dif- ficile da ricostruire perché solo i brevetti americani sono facilmente rintracciabili su internet. I primi ascen- sori, che dispongono solo delle porte di piano, sono stati indubbiamente delle opere d’arte di carpenteria. Si tratta di veri e propri cancelli ornamentali re- alizzati con ferri battuti di indiscussa fattura e qualità artigianale; tuttavia, risultano molto scomodi per le opera- zioni di apertura e chiusura, operazioni affidate alla supervisione del cosiddetto “lift-boy” che deve anche regolare la ve- locità e arrestare la corsa dell’ascensore. Nei primi impianti idraulici il control- lo del movimento della cabina viene effettuato attraverso una funicella che aziona dei rubinetti; nei primi impianti a tamburo azionati da motore elettrico, invece, si utilizza un reostato. Il lavoro assegnato al “lift-boy” non è dunque cosa semplice.
