Tra loro c’è ovviamente quellodi Lucerna, in Svizzera. Raggiungendo quota 1132 metri, partendo dagli 874 di un hotel, quello dell’Hammetschwand è l’ascensore esterno più alto d’Europa. In meno di un minuto si arriva sopra le montagne, con un panorama fatto di rocce ripide a strapiombo sul lago dei Quattro Cantoni. Un’ esperienza che sa di suggestione e di storia, considerando che la sua apertura risale al 1905. L’ascensore fu progettato da Franz Joseph Bucher-Durrer, uno dei pionieri delle ferrovie di montagna elvetiche. All’epoca l’ascensore impiegava circa tre minuti per arrivare in cima.
