they will be published. This is an essential and necessary process following 01/09/17, when the new harmonized standards UNI EN 81-20 and UNI EN 81-50 came into effect, defining the current reference safety standard for lifts. Thanks to the availability and commitment of the participants of the GL9 working group, the year 2020 witnessed the beginning and completion of the revision of technical standards 10411-1 and 10411-2 concerning lifts installed prior to Lift Directive 95/16 EC (1999). Currently, most lifts within the national territory, being the oldest, require modifications and / or extraordinary maintenance. These regulations address the most frequent changes concerning lifts and provide sector operators with a tool to meet the requirements of the Ministerial Decree 37/2008. Compared to previous editions, the new texts of the regulations take into account the inclusion or revision of the proposals resulting from requests for clarification issued by the UNI Technical Commission (CT 019) and referring to previous editions of the regulations themselves. Lastly, up to one year from their publication date, these regulations may not be applied to modifications to lifts for which the modifications order confirmation by the owner took place before the publication date. However when that is the case, UNI 10411-1: 2014 and UNI 10411-2: 2014 are applied, exclusively for the specific changes within the order. Recommending interested parties to read the published rules from top to bottom, this article highlights the aspects, of points concerning the most significant changes, that may potentially be overlooked. UNI 10411-1 standard analysis In point 6 (Variation of the static load) Prospect 2 has been inserted concerning the variation of the static load on the section of the rope on the weight side with the same logic underlying Prospect 1. In point 9 (Moving equipment in the machinery room) paragraph 9.4 has been added: when moving the lift, if a variation in linkage condi- tions occurs, the sliding stability calculation must be re- spected as per appendix D of the regulation in question. In point 11 (Control Panel Replacement) with control panel replacement • the bidirectional communication device must be ap- plied if the lift in question is not equipped with it yet; • the accuracy of stopping at the floor must be guaran- dell’inchiesta pubblica della durata di due mesi e se non emergono ostacoli potranno poi essere pubblicati. These regulations address changes concerning lifts and provide sector operators with a tool to meet the requirements of the Ministerial Decree 37/2008 23
