N el ricordare Giovanni Cavallaro affiorano soltanto cose positive. È stato uno dei padri fondatori di Anacam e fino all’ultimo si è impegnato per la causa comune, battendosi affinché la correttezza e la serietà fossero la guida per tutti, sia in asso- ciazione che sul mercato. Forse qualcuno più grande di me avrà dei ricordi migliori del periodo in cui ha ricoperto le cariche importanti nella nostra associazione, ma la realtà è che Giovanni è sempre stato presidente, anche quando non lo era, dando costante- mente il suo contributo. Il destino ha voluto che in un 2020 difficile, dove molti han- no perso persone care, anche per le note vicende, Giovanni improvvisamente ci abbia lasciato proprio nella notte tra il 10 e l’11 dicembre, la notte tra le due giornate di assemblea live di Anacam. Sembra che anche in que- sto caso il destino lo abbia accomu- nato alla nostra associazione. È sempre stato un punto di riferi- mento per tutti noi e per il territo- rio, dove era apprezzato e rispettato da tutti, coprendo anche in ambito locale cariche importanti. Ci mancherà la sua figura sempre elegante, a volte “ingombrante”, se- duto sempre in prima fila. Ci mancheranno i suoi lunghissimi interventi, non faceva mai manca- re la sua critica costruttiva, forte di chi ha vissuto attivamente tutta la storia importante del nostro settore, raccontando anche aneddoti intercalati sempre dalla frase “è storia” … Già, oggi Giovanni Cavallaro è la storia della nostra associazio- ne e rimarrà vivo nei nostri ricordi. Cresciuto a Taranto, con un passato da calciatore, ha eredi- tato e costruito una grande e solida azienda; lui mi diceva sempre “siamo figli d’arte”, ricordando quanto il nostro me- stiere fosse parte importante della sua vita. Diventato imprenditore di successo fin da giovane, la sua azienda nasce dalle scissioni dei concessionari di quell’epo- ca. Oltre ad aver creato un’ottima azienda, ha soprattutto dato vita ad una grande e bella famiglia, forgiata dai sani valori a cui lui sempre faceva riferimento, e che intorno a lui è cresciuta e oggi ne è la prosecuzione. Nell’autunno appena passato, l’ho incontrato più volte nella sua terra, per un lavoro fatto insieme a Lecce, bellissima cit- tà d’arte, carica di storia. As a founding father of Anacam he was committed to the cause until the very end, his efforts aimed at establishing fairness and seriousness as an objective for everyone, both within the association and on the market. Perhaps my seniors may have more memories of the period in which he held the most important positions in our as- sociation, but the truth is that Giovanni has always been president, even when he technically was not, as his precious contribution was unceasing. Destiny has wanted for the challenging year 2020, to be the time when many lost their loved ones, Giovanni unexpect- edly passed in the night between the 10th and 11th of De- cember, the night between the two days of the Anacam live assembly. As if once again, fate has connected him with our association. He has always been a role model for all of us and for the country, where he was appreciated and respected by everyone, as he also held impor- tant local positions. His elegant presence will be missed, always in the front row, he never went unnoticed. His lengthy speeches will be missed, he never lacked in constructive criti- cism, developed by actively experi- encing the whole important history of our industry, as will his anecdotes always interspersed with the words “and that is history” ... Right, today Giovanni Cavallaro is the history of our associa- tion and will remain so in our memories. Raised in Taranto, a professional footballer in his youth, he inherited and developed a large, solid company; he would al- ways tell me “we are born into this art”, remembering how much our profession was an important part of his life. Having become a successful entrepreneur at an early age, his company was born from the retailers’ division of that time. In addition to having created an excellent company, he has above all created a beautiful family, forged by the wholesome values ​he always referred to, and which has grown around him and today is his legacy. During the last autumn, I met him several times in his home- land, we were working on something together in Lecce, a beautiful city of art and history.
