È la fine di un’epoca. Nel 1926, Floyd F. Turner e John A. Brubaker della Haughton Elevator realizzano la porta automatica di ca- bina e del cancello di piano. Per quanto riguarda l’Italia, nel 1963 tutti gli ascensori per persone devono avere le porte in cabina oltre a quelle di piano. Negli impianti installati fino agli anni Settanta, le porte di piano sono prevalentemente manuali ad un bat- tente, mentre quelle di cabina sono sempre manuali ma a due ante scorrevoli o a due battenti. La porta di piano è solitamente dotata di una maniglia per facilitare l’apertura, che spesso richiede l’utilizzo di una chiave per un accesso controllato al mezzo di trasporto, mentre nel battente frequentemente è presente una spia trasparente che segnala l’arrivo della cabina al piano.
