ANACAM MAGAZINE - n. 4 ottobre | dicembre 2022

The research commissioned by Anacam collects a sample of 1876 companies that consider the Ateco codes of reference for the sector and the diverse structure of the corporate names of the units of the sector, including partnership companies and limited companies. The primary source of the data is the business register for limited companies, but also the history of the analyses carried out for Anacam member (thanking Dante Pozzoni for his support in this regard). Finally, the analysis considers membership of the association itself as a distinctive factor since the member companies represent a significant group in terms of turnover within the sector operators of approximately 30% of the analysed population. The 2019-2020-2021 sector trend was considered, well understanding that the years 2020 and 2021 were strongly influenced by the Covid-19 pandemic and that the partial expansion is due to the driving force of building bonuses or similar extras. The research in question, therefore, presents a picture of the sector but while also providing useful observations to understand what key parameters are needed to compete and keep an adequate solidity. In this sense, we will focus on the financial aspects, as companies in the sector are often a “cash lung” for their customers: condominiums and public bodies are very slow in terms of payment and also take advantage of a lack of controls of recurring receipts. In a context of growing costs for raw materials and other production factors (energy and its derivatives) and a continuous increase in the cost of money both for the Euribor base rate and for the spread applied by banks and financial institutions such as leasing companies and rental, it is essential for companies in the sector to monitor working capital, otherwise there could be the risk of a financial crisis and lack of cash to carry out current activities. TURNOVER, EMPLOYEES, LEGAL FORM The first data to describe the sector are overall dimensional data in which the aggregate turnover over the years has had an average of around 3,000 million euros and a number of employees that is around 19,000. With regard to the corporate legal structure adopted by the subjects of the sector, it should be noted that for approximately 60% (1,114 subjects out of a total of 1,876), we refer to limited companies while the remaining part, almost 40%, is constituted by sole proprietorships or partnerships. By comparing the company name with the turnover, it can be seen that approximately 195 million euros are attributable to partnerships and sole proprietorships which represent only 6% of the total turnover. In a context in which analyses and a solidity of the database are increasingly required both for internal (of entrepreneurs) and external (of banks, suppliers, other subjects) needs, the sector on average expresses a high value of turnover produced by limited companies which are, by their nature and structure, a more qualified tool for a productive dialogue with the stakeholders, i.e. all the interlocutors of La ricerca commissionata da Anacam raccoglie un campione di 1876 imprese che considerano le classificazioni Ateco di riferimento per il settore e la diversa struttura delle ragioni sociali delle entità presenti nel settore, includendo società di persone e di capitali.
