1https://www.efesme.org/news/item/461-highlights-ofBIM BIM IMPACT ON SMEs It is certainly a fact that the implementation of BIM in SMEs is not an easy matter. As emphasised on several occasions, BIM should not be seen as the mere use of a (3D) software, but as a process that touches various business aspects. In this approach, the design phase is certainly one of the parts that is most stressed (and disrupted). Those who wish to use this methodology will inevitably have to review and update a series of tools, professional profiles, and company processes. With reference to UNI 11337-7:2008, it will be necessary to use qualified and certified personnel (either internal or external). The sales department itself will also have to evolve in the knowledge and management of market demands for the use of BIM processes. Moreover, the approach to the documentation aspect in support of the project will be crucial; in fact, it will be necessary to create and provide digital documentation aligned to the specific level of detail required. Finally, suppliers will play a key role in this new approach, as they will need to be able to provide information, templates, and specific support for the various requests.
