60 ANCHE GLI ASCENSORI SONO SOGGETTI A POSSIBILI RISCHI DERIVANTI DAI FULMINI MA È POSSIBILE PROTEGGERLI GRAZIE A UNA TECNOLOGIA SICURA E SOSTENIBILE Lifts are also subject to possible risks from lightning, but can be protected by safe and sustainable technology L’ ITALIA è il Paese con il maggior numero di fulmi nazioni in Europa occidentale. Nessuno, però, presta attenzione ad ITALY is the country with the highest number of lightning strikes in Western Europe. An average of 1,600,000 lightning strikes fall on our peninsula each year, and in Lombardy alone almost 100,000 cases. Lightning and power surges are a frequent and increasingly violent hazard; they are often the main cause of damage to buildings, and especially to the delicate electrical and electronic equipment inside them. In addition to indirect lightning strikes, power surges can also originate from the constant problems on electrical distribution lines, which are old and always subject to extraordinary maintenance. Lifts in our peninsula are therefore subject to these possible risks that lead to downtime, inconvenience, and significant costs for customers with insurance companies not always recognising full coverage. Buildings should all be assessed according to the CEI EN 62305 standard to understand the need for protective measures and, even where it is not mandatory, designers try to promote the installation of surge arresters (Surge Protection Devices) precisely to minimise problems on distribution lines. However, no one pays attention to a very important element: even if SPDs are installed on the input line, the earthing line remains unSICUREZZA DI LUCA CORRADINI* FULMINAZIONI E SOVRATENSIONI: soluzioni innovative per gli ascensori Lightning and power surges: innovative solutions for lifts
