▼ ▼ ▼ Anacam has always been extremely aware of the importance of safety, considering the nature of the activi- ty of lift companies which concerns user safety as well as employee sa- fety. Reducing accidents is unattai- nable without raising the awareness of the subjects who are responsible for the matter. Six years after the first edition of the book “Elements of risk assessment and safety mana- gement in small and medium-sized lift companies”, considering the changes that have taken place in the meantime, a second edition appea- red to be necessary, incorporating our understanding of the matter as well as the information and indica- tions derived from the direct expe- rience of all Anacam members. The purpose of the text is to provi- de training and information, hel- ping to cover formal, and above all substantial obligations, but clearly, these guidelines must be customi- zed according to individual needs and structures. We believe this to be a useful work tool for both ow- ners and collaborators, for protec- tion and prevention service mana- gers, for employee safety managers as well as for consultants, who are sometimes unacquainted with the specifics of the sector. One of the innovations of this se- cond edition is the chapter on the pandemic which is a summary of the guidelines developed alongside Antonio Ciani which were presented during the national Anacam webi- nar of 29 April 2020. The first part of the book inclu- des an overview of the Legislative Decree 81/2008 and subsequent amendments, so as not to neglect any part of it. The second part is devoted to risk assessment. In line with the first edi- tion, a semi-qualitative method was used, albeit in a simplified form, with only four levels of damage en- tity and four levels of probability. The third part collects the risk as- sessment forms, proposing the list of dangers applicable to each sector of activity. The subdivision of the different work environments was preserved, and the following con- sidered: all tasks and related risks, possible injuries, use of PPE and standard equipment. In the fourth part , typical risks of the different areas of a lift company are examined in depth based on the differences in age, gender and the presence of foreign workers. Risks and controls relating to the intake of alcohol and drugs are referenced as well as the loading and unloading of means of transport and docks / ramps, and in case of ground loa- ding / unloading. The fifth part includes the results of a survey on risk factors for workers in Europe by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, so- me of which are among the typical risks of the lift sector. The sixth part , as mentioned abo- ve, is dedicated to the Covid-19 pandemic. Finally, in the Appendices , readers may appreciate a list of Directives applicable to safety in the lift sector and an example of a possible POS form, Operational Plan for the Sa- fety of the construction site for lift installation, with particular focus on setting up the construction site.
