Per tutti e tre i metodi di valutazione (esame visivo, prova magneto-induttiva e misurazione) also collects the various verification requirements that mainly concern visual verification. Unfortunately, this is a little-known rule. Starting from the uncertainty that may arise from the tests regarding the suspension systems state of conservation and to clarify rejection criteria, about four years ago UNI has upgraded inspections on wire ropes, up to the point of approving and publishing in March of this year the Technical Specification UNI / TS 11807 “Lifts, lifting platforms and hoists - System suspension and compensation systems and systems for implementing the parachute by means of non-ferromagnetic material ropes coated - Requirements for verification and rejection criteria “. The Technical Specification (ST) arises from the collaboration of two UNI Commissions: the Lift Commission, in particular the GL015, and the Non-Destructive Tests Commission. The main change lies in the fact that this Technical Specification collects all the references contained in the various existing standards and introduces, as an option, the magneto-inductive examination as an aid system for visual verification. The TS deals with and establishes the requirements for verification (how to practically carry it out) and the criteria for rejecting the suspension and compensation systems of the system and actuation of the parachute by means of ropes containing or made of uncoated ferromagnetic material, installed on lifts, lifting platforms and hoists. In addition, it provides general information for the use and maintenance of the ropes themselves, information that is reported in Appendix B which was strongly desired by the experts who contributed to the drafting of the ST for its important informative value. It is indisputable, in fact, that the ropes could be damaged during pre- installation transport or handling, resulting in their nonuse, or they could be subjected to poor maintenance, reducing their lifecycle. In addition to Appendix B, the text of the TS is completed by two other interesting Appendices. Appendix A (standard) contains the indications on how to carry out the optional magneto-inductive test, it is worth remembering that this is an aid to the overall assessment of the condition of the ropes in service (the test “ integrates the visual examination being able to provide useful information also on the internal condition of the rope “). Appendix C (information), on the other hand, focuses on the knowledge of the personnel who carry out the verification of the ropes and summarizes the topics the personnel should know. Returning to the text of the TS, the types of deterioration and related evaluation methods indicated are the following: 1) wire breakage, complete breakage of one or more strands, corrosion (external and internal), fretting, deformation, mechanical damage, heat damage. In these cases, the evaluation method is the visual examination integrated by the optional magneto-inductive test whose result must be included in the ropes inspection report by the maintenance technician who carried out the verification, as is law in article 7 of the ST. In case of unclear terms, such as the case of “fretting fatigue”, see Chapter 3 - Terms and definitions. In the specific case, “fretting fatigue” indicates the “deterioration of the suspension systems caused by the reciprocal sliding of the metal wires within the 30 normativa d i Pa o l o Tat t o l i
