51 Interventi di ammodernamento: la sostituzione del gruppo argano-motore L’innovazione porta all’immissione nel mercato di gruppi di trazione diversi da quelli degli anni passati Innovation means new traction units, different from the earl ier models, are entering the market Upgrading: replacing the winch-motor unit iTALY, as is well known to operators in the sector, is one of the countries with the highest number of installed lifts. The latest estimates indicate about 1 million systems in operation and, of these, about 700,000 are lifts from before 1999 (i.e. before the Directive) of which about 70% use an electromechanical drive. For these systems, due to the number of years of operation and operating cycles, technical, regulatory, and/or functional adjustments are needed. Among these modernization adjustments, one of the most frequent concerns the replacement of the winch/ motor unit and the adaptation of the new installation to the pre-existing situation. Often, especially for older lifts, it is not possible to replace the component with one of identical characteristics, for example, with the same reduction ratio, the same diameter of the traction pulley and the same number of engine revolutions. Technological evolution has also led to the production and release of traction units conceptually different from the older ones still in use in most existing lifts. The concept of machinery consisting of a reduction gear with a worm screw, a helical crown and asynchronous motor is slowly giving way to the so-called MRL (Machine Room Less) machines made with permanent magnet synchronous gearless motors, which guarantee significantly higher yields and performance than the classic winch/motor groups.
