Nel caso di cavalletto metallico (o della base) preesistente The UNI 10411 standard, from its first edition dating back to 1994, dealt with the subject by dictating guidelines to be followed to carry out a replacement according to the regulation. The first problem faced when replacing the winch is the speed of the system. The UNI 10411 standard dictates the limits allowed for speed variation by prescribing a series of additional adjustments in case of exceeding these limits. With the modern electronic technologies supplied with the lift control panels, it is possible to modulate the rotation speed of the motor of the new winch by acting on the frequency made available to the motor itself (these aspects will be dealt with in a subsequent article). Another problem that emerges during the replacement of the winch is linked to the variation of the winding angle of the cables on the traction pulley which, often, varies precisely due to the variation of the diameter of the pulley itself or the different height of the screw/crown of the new winch, or simply because the replacement of the winch also requires the construction of a new steel interface frame, called the base (if simply resting on the ground) or trestle (if equipped with legs and deviation pulley). Now, let’s look at the problems relating to this latter aspect. First of all, it’s important to consider the positioning of the winch, that is, whether it is at the top or at the bottom. When replacing a top-positioned winch, it is necessary to evaluate the pre-existing support of the winch which can be placed on a brace made of masonry (especially on the most popular systems) or on a stand (or base) made with metal profiles. In both cases, the (highly likely) different fixing geometry of the new winch will have to be taken into account. It is almost impossible that the location of the old brace and the holes of the old stand (or base) will allow the immediate attachment of the new winch. In the case of a pre-existing metal stand, it is often preferable to fully replace this component with a new one FOCUS TECNICO/ARGANI d i G i u s e p p e A n d r e a n i
