L’EPD si basa sull’utilizzo della metodologia LCA, cioè sull’analisi del ciclo di vita del prodotto, rispettandone le relative norme. Schematizzando, la EPD: • è una etichettatura ambientale di Tipo III e, come tale, è sottoposta ad un controllo indipendente; • è un documento descrittivo che non prevede livelli minimi di prestazione ambientale da rispettare; the environmental product declaration, known by the acronym EPD, is a voluntary document with which a company or organisation discloses, in a transparent and objective manner, the environmental impact of the life cycle of its products or services to other manufacturers and consumers.
