Il Festival ha certamente PARMA, one of the beating hearts of Italian industry and culture, hosted the first edition of the Industrial Storytelling Festival, a unique initiative of its kind. From 28 to 30 November, the Emilian city hosted events that explored the Italian industrial world, going beyond the strictly economic dimension. Curated by engineer Giuseppe Iotti, an Anacam associate and chairman of the organising committee, and Isotta Piazza, professor at the University of Parma and chairman of the scientific committee, the Festival offered eight free events that involved the public in a reflection on the history and evolution of industrial narration expressed through cinema, literature, theatre and advertising. We talked about it with Giuseppe Iotti. WHY AN INDUSTRIAL STORYTELLING FESTIVAL? My meeting with Alberto Albertini, author of ‘La classe avversa’ (The Adverse Class), during the Anacam Assembly in Milano Marittima, made me discover a real literary tradition dedicated to Italian industry. Subsequently, thanks to the discussion with Professor Giuseppe Lupo of the Catholic University of Milan, considered by Albertini his “mentor”, the idea was born to create an event that could recount and celebrate this type of narration. WHAT WAS THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF PARMA TO THIS PROJECT? The University of Parma played a fundamental role in the organisation of the Festival, promoting a plurality of narrative models for analysing the industrial world. In particular, Isotta Piazza curated a podcast project dedicated to the stories of local companies, while Sara Martin presented the film ‘Il capo perfetto’ (‘El buen patrón’ - ‘The Good Boss’) by Fernando León de Aranoa, a work that offered food for thought on the complex relationships between bosses and employees. The film screening was one of the key moments of the Festival, which was also enriched by Professor Carlo Varotti’s contribution to the theatre section. HOW DID THE FESTIVAL CONTRIBUTE TO CHANGING THE PUBLIC’S PERCEPTION OF THE INDUSTRY? The Festival certainly allowed the public to see industry in a different light, not only as an economic system but as a cultural and social reality that has influenced our way of life and human relations. A significant contribution in this sense came from the evolution of Barilla’s adDAL 28 AL 30 NOVEMBRE, PARMA HA ACCOLTO LA PRIMA EDIZIONE DEL FESTIVAL DELLA NARRAZIONE INDUSTRIALE, UN EVENTO CHE HA ESPLORATO IL RUOLO SOCIALE E CULTURALE DELL’INDUSTRIA From 28 to 30 November, Parma hosted the first edition of the Festival della Narrazione Industriale (“Industrial Storytelling Festival”), an event that explored the social and cultural role of industry
