WE often hear that data is the new oil and that the future of companies depends on their ability to manage it and extract value from it. However, the first step is not to adopt trendy solutions or give in to external pressures, but to develop an awareness of the strategic importance of data. An operator in the lift sector told me how, in his company, the initiative to organise work orders and related execution reports through a system integrated with invoicing was initially met with great reluctance. The problem was obvious: too many “yellow sheets” forgotten in vans or drawers, resulting in delays in invoicing and loss of information. The new system, based on the immediate compilation of interventions via tablet, immediately proved its effectiveness thanks to clear scheduling, direct invoicing, a summary of interventions, and a detailed analysis by month, year, and customer. This example shows how the “we’ve always done it this way” approach is now outdated. We are not in a science fiction film where artificial intelligence is destined to replace humans in all kinds of activities, but in a reality where data is the first ally of good corporate governance. As I often say, when we 68 THE IMPORTANCE of data management and the CRM L’IMPORTANZA della gestione dei dati e il CRM GESTIONE AZIENDALE DI ALESSANDRO CERIANI* IL DATO È UNA RISORSA STRATEGICA CHE, SE GESTITA IN MODO INTEGRATO E CONSAPEVOLE, MIGLIORA EFFICIENZA E COMPETITIVITÀ AZIENDALE Data is a strategic resource which, if managed in an integrated and informed manner, improves business efficiency and competitiveness
