In generale il trattamento con plasma freddo produce un effetto disinfettante contro batteri, spore, muffe ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species) and are responsible for the oxidative power acquired by the gaseous flow. This compound is highly reactive and able to attack a large variety of microorganisms, moulds, bacteria, viruses and even chemical substances. The laboratory tested generation of NTP in Jonix systems (Cube model) is based on the use of special actuators, responsible for the ionization of the gaseous flow at ambient pressure and temperature, based on the principle of dielectric barrier discharge, or DBD (Dielectric Barrier Discharge). The definition owes to the dielectric material (borosilicate glass) between the electrodes, which prevents the development of high currents and generates the production of the aforementioned ROS. Non-thermal plasmas (NTP) at atmospheric pressure is among the emerging technologies against the increasing resistance of viruses, as it acts by viral inactivation and appears promising to the point of being the subject of an ever-increasing number of studies. In general, the treatment with cold plasma produces a disinfectant effect against bacteria, spores, moulds and other pathogens. The latter are of particular interest as they act on a broad spectrum, and in particular against viruses. The effects and reaction mechanisms vary according to the mode of plasma production as well as to the application, and is still subject to scientific discussion, but the various authors agree in noting marked degradation effects of viral proteins and nucleic acids, as well as of lipids in viruses (such as coronaviruses), allowing the system to be considered robust and flexible. In the struggle to contain the virus, oxidizing chemicals such as hypochlorite or hydrogen peroxide are commonly used to disinfect surfaces
