candidati. Negotiate contracts Negotiate fair and correct conditions, finding a balance between the clear determination of the required services and the possibility of expanding the field of action in the event of unforeseen events. Specify expected performance and how it will be valued and remunerated. Define the possibility of subcontracting and possible release clauses. 5. Transfer activities and functions to the supplier Define an internal manager or a working group to follow the transfer of activities to the subcontractor. Make sure that employees and supervisors are actively involved in the process. 6. Define the relationship with the supplier Sporadic relationship, continuous collaboration, partnership, strategic alliance, vertical integration. Which formula is best suited to the specific case? Let’s try to put the theory in the reality of our sector starting from installers and maintenance technicians. Everyone is used to making use of external professionals such as lawyers, accountants and labor consultants, often without particular assessment of the subjects we collaborate with. Have we asked ourselves if it is possible to go further with the same professionals? Could our lawyer also take care of debt collection? Could the accountant do more than just tax? Why, for example, not entrust the design to specialized engineering firms, freeing up internal resources? Why not make use of subcontractors who can take charge of specific installation or maintenance activities, managing the services that we are unable to perform due to an excessive workload or, simply, because we do not consider them strategic? We know perfectly well that licensed technicians are the most precious resource of installers and maintenance technicians and, unfortunately, also the rarest resource. It is vital to know how to better manage your workforce by dedicating it to activities that can make a difference in competitive terms or generate greater added value. What these activities are varies from company to company, based on the size, the local competitive scenario, the customer base and the work they carry out. There is no predefined recipe. However, subcontractors who specialize in a specific activity are generally able to operate more efficiently and can count on a wider experience. These are precious resources at a time when the request for extraordinary maintenance and more or less intense modernizations is driven by the requirements of UNI 10411-1:2021 and 10411-2:2021, as well as by state contributions in terms of tax credit. Outside support can make the difference between being able to take a job or not. Many already do it, others struggle to trust and prefer to rely only on their own strength. 10 INNOVAZ IONE & SERVI Z I d i A l e s s a n d r o C at t e l a n
