Capite perfettamente cosa comporta questa operazione… certification of BIM skills is not compulsory, but rather rewarding, in the sense that it can be required by certain announcements, and thus becomes an added value for the professional and the company, a tool for differentiation on the market. The certification is valid for 5 years, but must be renewed every year, and evidence of proper BIM project management must be provided. What economic commitment does the adoption of BIM entail? Are there funds available to companies? The adoption of BIM requires some investment for the purchase and maintenance of software, training, and possibly certification of skills. A cost estimate is quite difficult to make because there are many variables to consider. I believe that, in order to understand whether it is a good investment, each company must evaluate the cost in relation to the expected benefits and the savings that the use of BIM entails in terms of resources, time, and errors, as well as the inability to access announcements, or the fact of being limited because without certified personnel or without the required BIM libraries. I honestly don’t know of any companies that have managed to access funds, but this is a terrain I don’t know, and God works in mysterious ways. What are the biggest fears of companies that come to you and what are the difficulties? Unfortunately, many companies approach BIM when they have no alternative, i.e. when they have acquired a job order involving BIM design, often without understanding what it means. The reason? Simply the lack of a BIM manager within the company. Their greatest fears are that they will lose the order margin, or that it will be limited by ‘the fault’ of the investments they have to make to manage and complete the order. On the other hand, the difficulties are those of the day-today, of not having/not wanting new resources to be brought in, but choosing to move those already present away from their original occupation. You fully understand what this entails... 33
