43 in low power, others in sleep or switched off completely. Among these, the most energy-hungry components such as the fire-fighting inverter, the door operator, and the light curtain are forcibly switched off. The same applies to the safety circuit, monitoring circuits, and any other peripheral electronic boards. This ensures the greatest possible energy savings and a longer service life for the devices involved than in all other modes. However, the ‘deep sleep’ mode has its drawbacks: additional circuitry and components (e.g. contactors) must be added, and the return to active operation no longer takes only a few seconds, but often requires a more elaborate reset procedure. It is clear that this mode should only be activated as part of a careful planning of the lift’s idle states, limiting, for example, deep sleep only to the night hours. But what is the consumption and how much can realistically be saved? We can see this in Table 2 where an average price of 0,30 €/kWh was used to calculate the annual savings. The reference is the Single National Price of energy purchased on the IPEX - Italian Power Exchange. The economic impact on an annual basis may appear limited; however, one should also reason from a product life cycle perspective: each component, and device (electronic and otherwise) is characterised by its own life cycle, the estimated extent of which should be indicated in its data sheet. Obviously linked to the product life cycle is the issue of the buona parte delle sue funzionalità.
