In un sistema antifragile si cerca di affrontare positivamente il rischio per trasformarlo. Proviamo a calare questi concetti nel nostro quotidiano con alcuni esempi. L’avvento di una nuova norma, come è avvenuto per la UNI 10411, comporta una rimodulazione delle consuetudini che per anni sono state date per assodate nell’ambito della modifica o della sostituzione di componenti di ascensori. Alcuni l’hanno vissuta come una complicazione non necessaria, altri si sono resi conto che avrebbe portato con sé una serie di opportunità, accelerando un processo di svecchiamento più profondo e coerente di un parco installato tra i più vetusti in Europa. I bonus governativi, in tutte le loro varianti, ci hanno costretto a fare i conti con una burocrazia che avremmo volentieri evitato, a volte muovendoci in contesti poco chiari. Chi ha saputo cavalcare l’onda, però, ha goduto di grandi benefici e ha avuto l’occasione per rafforzare la propria azienda, sia dal punto di vista finanziario che di competenze. Il blackout che ha colpito nei mesi scorsi la Spagna rappresenta un campanello d’allarme, ma anche un’opportunità per il settore ascensoristico italiano: un’occasione concreta per analizzare lo stato attuale degli impianti e riflettere su come migliorarne la resilienza in caso di interruzioni prolungate della fornitura elettrica. Se da un lato l’episodio ha evidenziato la vulnerabilità delle infrastrutture in scenari di crisi energetica, dall’altro ha offerto al nostro comparto la possibilità di anticipare criticità simili, intervenendo preventivamente su più fronti con l’aggiornamento tecnologico degli impianti, l’adozione di soluzioni di backup efficaci, mettendo a punto protocolli di emergenza per garantire la sicurezza delle persone bloccate in cabina, e focalizzando l’attenzione sulla manutenzione predittiva e sulla digitalizzazione. Anche questa può diventare un’opportunità concreta per le aziende del settore, se sapranno e se vorranno coglierla. La penuria di risorse umane qualificate nel nostro settore è un limite fortissimo. Il tecnico ascensorista è un bene sempre più prezioso. Possiamo provare a reperire nuove risorse a costi sempre più elevati, provando a sottrarle ad altre aziende. Oppure possiamo, in parallelo, lavorare alla formazione organizzata di giovani tecnici e all’eliminazione degli sprechi di risorse e tempo nell’ambito della nostra organizzazione. Resistere o evolversi. Reggere l’urto o attrezzarsi per non subirlo nuovamente. È ovvio che non è facile mettere in atto questi meccanismi e che è estremamente difficile farlo da soli, soprattutto per le aziende più piccole. Affidarsi a persone capaci e confrontarsi su temi cruciali è senza dubbio un grande aiuto, ma è solo sforzandosi di essere aperti e pronti ad affrontare nuove sfide che si può sviluppare l’antifragilità. In an anti-fragile system, we try to deal with risk positively in order to transform it. Let’s try to apply these concepts to our daily lives with a few examples. The advent of a new standard, such as UNI 10411, involves a rethinking of practices that for years have been taken for granted in the field of lift component modification or replacement. Some saw it as an unnecessary complication, while others realised that it would bring with it a series of opportunities, accelerating a more profound and consistent process of modernisation of one of the oldest lift fleets in Europe. Government bonuses, in all their forms, have forced us to deal with bureaucracy that we would have gladly avoided, sometimes operating in unclear contexts. However, those who were able to ride the wave enjoyed great benefits and had the opportunity to strengthen their companies, both financially and in terms of skills. The blackout that hit Spain in recent months is a wake-up call, but also an opportunity for the Italian lift sector: a concrete opportunity to analyse the current state of the systems and reflect on how to improve their resilience in the event of prolonged power outages. While the episode highlighted the vulnerability of infrastructure in energy crisis scenarios, it also offered our sector the opportunity to anticipate similar critical issues by taking preventive action on several fronts, including technological upgrades to systems, adopting effective backup solutions, developing emergency protocols to ensure the safety of people stuck in lifts, and focusing on predictive maintenance and digitalisation. This too can become a real opportunity for companies in the sector, if they know how and are willing to seize it. The shortage of qualified human resources in our sector is a major limitation. Lift technicians are an increasingly valuable asset. We can try to find new resources at ever-higher costs, attempting to poach them from other companies. Or we can, at the same time, work on the organised training of young technicians and the elimination of wasted resources and time within our organisation. Resist or evolve. Withstand the impact or equip yourself so as not to suffer it again. It is obvious that it is not easy to implement these mechanisms, and that it is extremely difficult to do so alone, especially for smaller companies. Relying on capable people and discussing crucial issues is undoubtedly a great help, but it is only by striving to be open and ready to face new challenges that antifragility can be developed.
