Marina di Carrara: woman dies crushed by a lifting platform in her home

Tragic accident in Marina di Carrara where a woman was crushed by the lifting platform that connects the tavern to the first floor of the private house where the victim lived. According to an initial reconstruction, the woman entered the shaft to retrieve an object. Evidently the victim used the emergency keys which, however, she shouldn’t have had because only the lift technicians are authorized to enter the shaft, given the related risks. The compartment door closed and the lift started moving for reasons yet to be ascertained. There was no escape for the woman.

Anacam believes it is important to remember that maintenance is also mandatory for systems installed in private buildings and that any interventions, of any nature, must be carried out only and exclusively by a maintenance company. It is also strongly recommended to entrust the maintenance of the lift to specialized companies in compliance with all the legal requirements.
