Lift SMEs are also represented in the European Commission's Standardisation Forum

09 February 2023

Thanks to SBS and EFESME, European lift SMEs are also represented in the High-Level Forum on European Standardisation, the Forum entirely dedicated to European standardisation processes, introduced by the new European Standardisation Strategy.
The aim of the Forum is to provide support to the Commission by identifying standardisation priorities in support of EU policies and legislation, also based on the needs of the market and its economic actors, which are mostly small and medium-sized enterprises.
The Forum currently consists of 50 members representing the EU/EEA Member States, European standardisation organisations (CEN, CENELEC, ETSI), industry, civil society and academia. The Forum also includes an operational body, a 'Sherpa Group', which will be in charge of preparing the more technical documents to be discussed during the Forum meetings. At the first meeting of the 'Sherpa Group' subgroup, which was held on 20 January, Daniele Pernigotti of UNI, among others, took part. SBS Director Maitane OLABARRIA UZQUIANO is also a member of the Sherpa Group, while SBS President Gunilla ALMGREN is a member of the Forum.
EFESME is represented within the FORUM by SBS for the technical aspects and by SMEunited, of which it is a member, for the more political aspects related to European standardisation.
EFESME will be directly involved in SBS's internal working groups that will serve to guide the actions and proposals that SBS itself will bring to the Forum. For this reason, the contribution of both technical experts and EFESME members will be crucial.
