“GREEN”was born in 2012 with the renovation of an abandoned warehouse in the most industrial area of Turin, in Mirafiori. It was a sustainable innovation project that led to the transformation of the existing building to house new management, administrative, and operational offices as well as a spare parts warehouse. Owned by a Danish multinational, it had already been conceived with great attention to space and greenery. Innovative and renewable materials were used for the 2,000 square metre building. Large openings were made in the warehouse to accommodate large windows on each side and thus flood the interior offices with natural light, limiting the use of artificial light. A system of 200 photovoltaic panels was installed, while a state-of-the-art roof garden with a drip irrigation system was created on the roof of the warehouse forepart. The main front, previously used as a loading and unloading area, was turned into a lawn, with various plants and lime trees. To irrigate the 2,500-square-metre garden, a system was developed that uses groundwater taken directly 50 metres underground.
