The lifts market in India
According to the latest Report di Madras Consultancy Group (MCG), an estimated 84,000 new lifts were installed in India last year. Over the past decade, there has been a significant shift to MRL lifts, which now account for a major share of the market. Metropolises such as the National Capital Region (NCR), Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Kolkata remain key markets in terms of the number of lifts sold. According to the MCG Report, demand for lifts in India will also be driven by strong government investment in various large infrastructure projects across the country. The Indian market therefore represents an important opportunity for SMEs in the sector that are interested in starting an internationalisation process.
