ISO 8100, global safety and new skills: the latest issue of ANACAM Magazine is now online
Issue 2-2026 of ANACAM Magazine is now available online. This edition focuses on the new ISO 8100-1 and ISO 8100-2 standards and on how they are expected to shape the future of the lift industry.
The issue is designed as a practical resource for lift companies seeking to understand the main changes introduced by the new standards. Contributions from leading industry specialists highlight the most significant developments and their likely implications. The articles are not intended to be exhaustive and do not replace direct consultation of the standards themselves, but they provide a valuable starting point for understanding their content, scope and practical impact.
The transition from EN 81-20 and EN 81-50 to the new ISO standards is presented as a far-reaching change affecting design, safety, maintenance, professional skills and business organisation. The lift is increasingly viewed as an integrated system that must be assessed as a whole and throughout its entire lifecycle.
The magazine devotes extensive coverage to the main technical developments, including suspension systems, control panels, cybersecurity, doors, machinery and hydraulic lifts. It also stresses the importance, particularly for SMEs, of preparing in good time through training, process updates and a more structured approach to managing technical expertise.
The issue also traces the path that led to ISO 8100, following years of technical work and negotiation between different regulatory traditions. The aim is not to make every market identical, but to establish shared rules and criteria better suited to technologies that are increasingly global and interconnected.
Beyond the standards dossier, the current affairs section examines KONE’s acquisition of TK Elevator, considering its potential impact on competition and the role of the European Commission in protecting the market, customers and the independent supply chain.
The Vertical Growth Insights column turns to the condominium market, describing it as a “composite customer”. Building managers and co-owners have different expectations, so communication must be tailored to their respective roles.
Business management is explored from a bank’s perspective, with practical guidance on financial statements, credit facilities, budgeting, financial planning and the quality of information provided to lenders. A separate article explains when statutory auditing is compulsory for public limited companies and limited liability companies, the relevant size thresholds, appointment deadlines and the distinction between a statutory auditor and a supervisory body.
The issue also looks at insurance protection for maintenance companies, reviewing the main operational risks and the cover available for civil liability, company assets, employees and senior management. Particular emphasis is placed on choosing insurance solutions tailored specifically to the lift industry and to the actual profile and needs of each business.
The magazine closes with a journey through art, architecture, museums and cinema, exploring the lift as a symbolic space of modern life.
